BBC News Report (9/9/2001):  Scores Dead After Nigerian Religious Riots; "Troops patrol the streets of the Nigerian city of Jos after clashes between Christians and Muslims leave at least 50 people dead....Official reports spoke of a death toll of at least 50 but unofficially it was being put at 100 or more....Churches and a mosque were burnt to the ground as Christian vigilantes took to the streets. They set up road blocks around the city, stopping cars and searching them for Muslims."
ABC News Report  (9/9/2001):  Frightened Muslims, Christians huddle together after deadly religious violence in [JOS]; "...Frightened residents described determined killers keeping up hit-and-run attacks singling out victims, then closing in with guns and machetes when armed patrols were out of sight."
